Have You Heard, today (11/7) marks 35 years since actor Steve McQueen died.
McQueen lived a rather rough life, filled with heavy drug and alcohol use and fits of temper. However, he also raced cars and motorcycles and, in 1974, was regarded as the highest-paid actor in the world.
McQueen earned one Academy Award nomination, for Best Actor, for his work on “The Sand Pebbles” (1966). He lost to Paul Scofield, who starred in “A Man for All Seasons.”
McQueen died in Mexico, after surgery to remove cancerous tumors in his neck and stomach.
He was only 50 years old.

McQueen, however, turned to God and greatly admired the Rev. Billy Graham.
Graham heard of McQueen’s incurable cancer and visited him shortly before McQueen’s final operation.
He witnessed to the dying actor and gave McQueen his own Bible, including a personal inscription.
Rev. Graham called McQueen, “a fighter.”
The Reverend Billy Graham is 97 years old today.

99 years ago today (11/7/1916), Jeannette Rankin (R-Montana) became the first woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Amazingly, she won the seat even though the 19th amendment, which guaranteed women the right to vote in the U.S., was still nearly four years in the future.

Perhaps the most-influential woman of the 20th century, Eleanor Roosevelt, died 53 years ago today.
She was 78.

Christopher Knight, who played Peter on “The Brady Bunch” sitcom, is 58 today.

Today is one week after Halloween, so it’s “Pumpkin Destruction Day.”

You can see “Have You Heard” each weeknight after weather on News13 at 11:00.
