CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – A Conway man is behind bars Tuesday after a young girl told police that he had touched her and kissed her inappropriately for nearly three years.
An incident report from Horry County Police states Daniel Charles Bennett, 28, of Conway, made an 11-year-old family member sit on his lap and would put his hands under her shirt and touch her breasts. The touching began in 2011, the victim told police, and lasted through June 2014 when the victim moved and didn’t have to be around Bennett anymore.
The now 14-year-old victim told police that Bennett would wear shorts that exposed his genitals and ask the young girl is she wanted to touch his “private parts,” the report documents. She went on to explain to police that Bennett would not allow her to wear pajamas or any sort of pants to bed and would touch her thighs. Bennett also had the girl sit on his lap and would kiss her “with his tongue,” the report details.
Over the span of three years, the victim said Bennett also tried to get in the shower with her, but she repeatedly said “no, no, no” and would not allow him in the shower. In addition, there were numerous incidents of inappropriate touching, kissing and Bennett exposing himself to the victim.
The abuse reportedly occurred at a home off of Savannah Bluff Road in Conway and at a second home on Farmwood Circle, also in Conway.
Bennett is charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor third degree. He was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 8:21 a.m. Tuesday and a $10,000 bond has been set.
