MULLINS, S.C (WBTW)- Police in Montgomery, Alabama arrested three people including a Mullins man after a shooting that killed two people on Thursday.
Lt. Denise Barnes with MPD says detectives charged Kelly Varnado, 24, Steven Varnado, 28, both of Montgomery and Donte Cooper, 26, of Mullins with one count each of capital murder.
Barnes says all three suspects were taken into custody by MPD patrol officers near the scene.
Police say 34-year-old Anthony Packer and 24-year-old Sherika Packer both of Montgomery were killed.
MPD and Fire Medics responded to the 2700 block of Endicott Drive at about 1:00 a.m., early Thursday morning after receiving a report of the shooting.
Barnes said upon arrival they located Anthony Packer, who had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sherika Packer was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries where she was later pronounced dead. A third victim received minor injuries.
Following their arrests, all three were transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where each is being held without bond.
Officials say the circumstances surrounding the fatal shootings are under investigation.
