FLORENCE, SC – Songwriting icon Don McLean will headline a very special evening for Francis Marion University and its friends at the “Starry, Starry Night Scholarship Gala,” April 2 at the FMU Performing Arts Center. McLean, whose hits “American Pie,” and “Vincent” are among the most popular songs of all time, will entertain gala patrons with songs, stories and music as only he can. A grand, post-concert reception will follow.
During his career, McLean recorded more than 40 gold or platinum albums. He’s recorded dozens of hit songs, both for himself and other artists, including Elvis Presley, Helen Reddy, Shirley Bassey, Glen Campbell, Engelbert Humperdinck, Howard Keel, Claude François, Perry Como, and Josh Groban.
Tickets for the event are $100. Proceeds will benefit the Francis Marion Foundation’s scholarship fund. Tickets go on sale Dec. 1 at the FMU Performing Arts Center box office. They can be purchased online at www.fmu.pac.org, by phone at 843-661-4444 or in person weekdays from noon to 5 p.m.
The FMU Foundation provides scholarship support for Francis Marion students.
This year’s Gala will help address much of that need. Besides individual tickets, sponsorship opportunities for the Gala are also available. Contact the FMU Foundation at (843)661-1295 for details.
