MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Dozens of businesses have been closed in Horry County over the past year under public nuisance violations.

The Gold Club in Myrtle Beach was on that list but closed voluntarily before going to court.

After a year siting vacant, Club Faces opened at the location, with new owners to go with the new name.

When a viewer came to News13 with Instagram posts showing scantily clad women, they were concerned the club was featuring strippers where they’re not allowed.

Club Faces is zoned as a restaurant, bar, lounge; not for adult entertainment. So News13 reached out to the Horry County Planning and Zoning Department to see if the pictures show any violations.

Department head Janet Carter says because the bikinis fully cover the girls bodies, it does not break any rules.

In a statement to News13 club owners said, “there are absolutely no strippers at the club, the women in bikinis… waitress and perform live dance sets throughout the evening. Club faces promotes a mature, sexy, classy, safe night-life experience. ”

News13 reached out to Horry County Police who say they are aware the club is under new ownership and haven’t received any complaints so far.

A neighboring business in the area says they used to have to get cars towed from their lot and would find empty beer cans on their property, but all that’s changed and they are happy with the security the new owners have in place.

When we last spoke to 15th Judicial Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson about Club Faces in early November, said he believed things would be different this time around.

The full statement from Club Faces:
“There are absolutely no strippers at the club. Club Faces strictly prohibits suchlike activity. The women in bikinis are waitresses/go go dancers who waitress and perform live dance sets throughout the evening. Any waitress/go go dancer who violates this code of conduct would prompt immediate termination. Club Faces promotes a mature, sexy, classy, safe night-life experience. We are equipped with a minimum of 14 safety coordinators which includes SLED certified armed guards. We have communicated with the Horry County Police department to share our vision as well as partner with them in our safety measures and they have been very supportive thus far.”
