MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A Myrtle Beach couple was arrested after their child tested positive for marijuana and both parents tested positive for numerous drugs, according to Myrtle Beach Police.
A police report obtained by News13 states 27-year-old Rachell Jermie Belter and Jorge Estevan Sierra, 23, are each charged with one count of unlawful neglect of a child after their child, whose age was not listed on the report, tested positive for marijuana in October. Both parents were booked into the Myrtle Beach jail November 22.
Belter and Sierra, the child’s birth parents, also tested positive for illegal drugs. According to the police report, a worker for the Department of Social Services verified with police that the results of a drug test given to both parents on October 27 confirm Belter tested positive for methadone and cocaine and Sierra tested positive for cocaine and marijuana.
A safety plan was put into place by DSS and police, removing the child from the parents’ care and placing the victim in the home of another caregiver. Neither Belter nor Sierra are allowed unsupervised visits with the child, the report states.
