MURRELLS INLET, SC — Brookgreen Gardens hosts Nights of a Thousand Candles every weekend through December to show off the gardens’ beauty during the holidays.
The event is now in its 16th year. When it first began, organizers say it was only a 2-day event with about 500 candles in the garden.
Now, it has grown into a 10-day event. Almost every Thursday-Saturday in December, volunteers light more than 6,000 candles through the entire garden. Also, hundreds of thousands of LED lights hang among the trees, plants, and other displays.
The event runs December 10-12, and December 17-20. It is from 3:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. with live music, food, and drink stations spread among the displays.
