Rolesville officials released little information on Sunday about the fire which broke out just before 8 a.m. Friday at the home at 6205 Roles Saddle Drive.

They’re still trying to piece together what caused the blaze where a mother and her 3-year-old son were found dead Friday morning.

Neighbors and a local church have identified the couple who live at the house as Derek and Kristy Bryan.

Kristy Bryan and one of her 3-year-old boys, who is a twin, died in the fire, sources said.

On Sunday, Rolesville officials said that the other twin boy, who was in the house at the time of the fire, is listed in critical but stable condition at UNC Hospital. The couple has a third child, a girl, but police said she left for school just before the fire started.

Police were calling the blaze suspicious. On Sunday said it was “isolated event.”

“The Rolesville Police Department wishes to assure the community that this incident is being investigated as an isolated event. There are no known threats to the public related to this incident,” said Rolesville Police Chief Bobby Langston II.

A source close to the investigation told WNCN that a canister of gasoline was found inside the home.

Neighbors, who said the family lived in the home for two years, told WNCN they heard an explosion.

The police chief said dad and husband Derek Bryan was on scene for most of the day Friday and he left the scene around 9 p.m. Friday.

Town officials on Sunday also called for patience concerning information about the blaze and deaths.

“The Town asks for the public’s patience as this process continues,” officials said in a press release. “The Rolesville Police Department will only release facts related to the case and cannot confirm what is posted on social media.”
