GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – The driver of the vehicle that struck a horse Tuesday night in Georgetown County died of their injuries, reports South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 8:10 p.m. Tuesday night on Powell Road in Georgetown County. According to troopers, the driver of a 2005 Nissan was traveling west on Powell Road when the vehicle struck a horse, then drove off the right side of the road, landing in a ditch and ejecting the driver.
The driver of the vehicle was airlifted to Medical University of South Carolina, but died of their injuries, SCHP confirms. The driver’s name has not yet been released and troopers report the victim was not wearing a seat belt.
