MYRTLE BEACH – The Coastal Carolina women’s basketball team lost its second consecutive game Friday night as Wake Forest bested the Chants 81-52 in the CrosCom Bank Carolinas Challenge at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
Coastal (4-6, 0-2 Big South) committed 29 turnovers in the contest, tied for its most this season, leading to 29 points from Wake Forest (7-3, 0-0 ACC).
Friday’s loss moves Coastal to 1-1 against ACC opponents this year after the Chants defeated Clemson in the first month of the season.
Yasmin Miller closed the game as Coastal’s leading scorer with 13 points, the only Chanticleer to finish in double figures. Miller went 4-of-11 from the field while adding five points on seven free throw attempts.
Rachael Gregory paced the Chants with seven rebounds, her fourth time leading Coastal in that category this season.
Wake Forest was paced the by the 23 and 22 points of Amber Campbell and Milan Quinn, respectively. The pair combined to make 16 of Wake’s 28 field goals, and added 12 more points from the line. Quinn additionally led the Demon Deacons with 14 rebounds to complete the double-double.
For the game, WFU shot 43.8 percent from the field to Coastal’s 32.1 percent, and out-rebounded the Chants 46-37. Wake led the contest from start to finish.
