PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WBTW) – Monday Carly Fiorina spoke to a group of a more than a hundred people at a campaign stop in Pawleys Island.
Fiorina said as a business person she is looking to move Washington and the rest of the country away from career politicians.
“The potential of this great nation is being crushed by a government that has grown so big, so powerful, so costly, so complicated, so inept, and so corrupt; and a professional political class that won’t do anything about it,” said Fiorina.
She says the United States is “woefully” behind in technology because bureaucracies never move ahead.
“For heaven sakes I’ve been on social media checking out my granddaughter’s new boyfriend. I think DHS can check out jihadis on a website,” said
She also says her background in business and foreign relations is incomparable and she believes showing our allies we are leaders is the way to beat ISIS.
“Mr. Trump, I know you’re enjoying your bromance with Vladimir Putin, but we can’t outsource leadership in the Middle East to Vladimir Putin,” she said.
The people in attendance say change is needed.
“People are really angry with what’s going on,” said Ricky Lefingwell.
Lefingwell says she’s followed Fiorina through the entire campaign.
“Everything she said I agree with. I knew that before i came in though,” she said.
However not everyone in attendance was as confident in Fiorina
“I’ll admit when I came here I did not know a lot of Carly Fiorina and I was not impressed with what I’ve seen,” said Bobby Walters.
However, that changed after her speech.
Walters is 18-years-old. He says he thinks it’s a big problem young people are not knowledgeable on the current issues.
He says he’s met several presidential candidates and after Fiorina’s speech he feels more confident in his decision for the upcoming election.
“As of now she is probably want of the top choices of getting my vote,” said Walters.
Fiorina has an appearance Tuesday at 11 am at Wholly Smokin’ Barbeque in Florence.
