INDIANAPOLIS – The two men accused in the killing of the wife of an Indianapolis pastor return to court Tuesday morning.
Jalen Watson and Larry Taylor Jr. face charges in a separate home invasion and sexual assault from Nov. 3.
Prosecutors say Watson and Taylor got into a woman’s west side apartment about a week before Amanda Blackburn’s murder. Court documents show it happened at the Westlake Apartments near Interstate 465 and Rockville Road.
In this case, the woman told police she was in the shower and home alone when two men came in.
She said they demanded money, and one of them,Taylor, is accused of sexually assaulting her while holding her at gunpoint.
Watson is accused of going through the house, looking for items to take, including a laptop and her car.
Taylor was connected to the sexual assault through DNA records.
Prosecutors say it was about a week later, on Nov 10, when Watson and Taylor entered the Blackburn’s home, which is about seven miles away from the Westlake Apartments.
They’re accused of stealing items from the Blackburn’s home, and prosecutors say Taylor shot 28-year-old Amanda Blackburn multiple times. She later died.
Watson, Taylor, and Diano Gordan are accused in two other burglaries from that same morning as well.
Both Watson and Taylor are scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. court appearance Tuesday on those separate burglary, armed robbery, sexual assault, and other charges.
They’re due back in court for the Blackburn murder charges on Jan 8.
