MARION COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – On Monday, people in Marion County were worried about flooding from the Little Pee Dee River.
According to the National Weather Service, the river rose to about 10.75 feet and it is expected to rise slightly. Monday afternoon a portion of Old Mullins Highway near Nichols was completely flooded.
The Marion County Emergency Management posted on its Facebook page that their concern is from Nichols up towards the Knife Island Landing area.
The river is at flood stage, but not at historic crest levels. The last time it hit that mark was back in 1993 when it rose to 12.74 feet.
Emergency management says there are several dirt roads off of Pee Dee Island Road that are inaccessible. They encourage residents and drivers to take their time and just turn around when you see water.
