MYRTLE BEACH, SC (AP) — Rainy weather and a few adjustments have delayed a project to finish installing more than 800 surveillance cameras in Myrtle Beach by the year of 2015.

A print media outlet in Myrtle Beach reports city officials hope the project will be completed by the end of January.

Police spokesman Lt. Joey Crosby says adjustments included correcting some angles and some zoom imaging.

Crosby says the $2.1 million project is nearing the end of phase three and still at the beginnings of phase four, which involves about 248 cameras being installed to watch over all major intersections throughout Myrtle Beach’s city limits.

He says the data from the cameras won’t be used for issuing speeding tickets but for watching traffic, review car crash footage and any crimes.
