HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – A New Year’s morning fire that damaged a mobile home is being investigated as a possible arson, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.
Battalion Chief Brian VanAernem told News13 the fire happened on Mill Pond Road. Horry County Fire Rescue investigators were called to the scene to investigate.
VanAernem confirmed Horry County Police took one person into custody in connection to the fire. News13 has reached out to Horry County Police for the identity of the suspect.
VanAernem says fire investigators collected several items from the scene to send off to a lab for testing. VanAernem says those results will confirm whether or not the fire was arson.
