MARION, SC (WBTW) – In Marion County, flooding continues to be an issue for the second straight week. Not only are homes and yards flooded, but some roads are washed out as well.
Emergency management is still accessing several flooded roads in the county. Highway 9 in Gresham near Canary Ct. continues to be closed. Another road that is still closed is Knife Island Ct. off Davis Landing Rd.
Emergency management says they are looking at several spots along both the Little Pee Dee and Great Pee Dee Rivers.
According to the National Weather Service, the Little Pee Dee River is just over 11 feet. Flood stage is at 9 feet.
Emergency management workers say that as the water recedes they will be out checking roads and making sure they are safe to drive on.
South Carolina Department of Transportation has locked and chained road closure signs down because they’ve had a problem with people moving them. Officials ask that if you approach a road closure sign not to move it and to just turn around.
