CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW)- Horry County Council passed third and final reading of an ordinance Tuesday night for a company to develop at the former Bay Tree Golf Course in Little River.
County Spokesperson Lisa Bourcier says passing the ordinance now allows a company to build 1,500 homes in the area as well as a 19.5 acre community park.
Bourcier says the PDD has existed since 2005 but this ordinance is amended with less density and more storm water capacity.
Council members say the proposed amendment increases the storm water capacity by about 20%.
Council members also say the developer will pay Horry County $1.9 million to help fund an area drainage plan, pay for future drainage needs, and fund recreation needs in the area.
