CONWAY, SC (WBTW) A large crowd braved a rainy morning to watch the 300-foot tall smoke stacks of the Trainger Generation Station in Conway come down Sunday morning.
Santee Cooper says a series of small, controlled explosions weakened the stacks on one side and directed the fall.
The 50 year old landmarks could be seen from much of the city.
Traffic on U.S. 501 was blocked for a few minutes as the stacks came down.
