SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Surfside Beach Police Department Investigators arrested an Horry County man Friday for indecent exposure.
Officers spoke with a victim who stated she saw a man in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly in Surfside Beach get out of a vehicle wearing only a robe. The robe was open and the man was naked underneath, the witness told police, but officers were unable to locate the man when they arrived.
On Thursday, officers responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle at the same location and found 54-year-old Clifton William Trail. Officers saw that Trail was partially clothed in his vehicle and the vehicle matched the one seen by the victim on April 18th.
Investigators met with and interviewed Trail and he was placed under arrest for indecent exposure.
Chief Keizah said that during the investigation it was learned that Trail is a registered sex offender and the Horry County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the arrest.
