FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – The Florence Police Department says an argument over a woman lead to assault charges for one Florence man Thursday night.
Captain McClure with the Florence Police Department says 65-year-old Danny Simmons is charged with assault and battery after shooting his victim during an argument over a woman. McClure says officers responded to a shooting in the 600 block of South Dargan Street around 7 p.m. Thursday. The call was first thought to be for an armed robbery, adds McClure.
When officers arrived, Simmons was identified as the suspect and later admitted to shooting the victim, confirms McClure. Simmons was transported to the Florence County Detention Center where he was released on $30,000 bond Friday afternoon.
The victim was transported to McLeod Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
