COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – Transportation officials say at least 86 roads and bridges in South Carolina damaged from this month’s floods will remain closed until at least after Thanksgiving.

The state Department of Transportation released its plans to repair the roads in the state on Friday. Officials put the damaged roads into three categories – fixed by Oct. 31, fixed by Nov. 26 or fixed sometime later.

The DOT says 73 of the 214 roads and bridges closed in the state should reopen by Oct. 31. But DOT gave no indication when all repairs would be finished.

DOT Secretary Christy Hall has said it will likely be Thanksgiving before she has a total damage estimate.

On Oct. 5, the agency said about 550 roads and bridges were closed.
