FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Football players and cheerleaders from Wilson High School, West Florence High School and South Florence High School spent their Halloween visiting patients at McLeod Children’s hospital Saturday afternoon.

The athletes went from door to door at the hospital and got a chance to do pumpkin carving and arts and crafts with patients.

Although patients aren’t able to go trick-or-treating for candy the students say they were glad to make their Halloween a sweet one to remember.

“We just try to lift their spirits. They’re in costumes so that’s really fun to see. Some are shy at first but once they get to know you they start to open up and you put a smile on their face. Once they get use to you they get really happy,” mentioned Florence One athletes.

This is the first collaboration for all three Florence schools. Florence School District One says they hope to make this an annual opportunity for athletes each year.
