MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Preliminary election results are in for Myrtle Beach City Council. According to the preliminary numbers, two incumbents and a former city councilwoman will begin serving the city in January 2016.
Michael Chestnut and Phil Render, each receiving approximately 21 percent of the votes, will keep their positions on the Myrtle Beach City Council, according to Tuesday night’s unofficial results.
The third seat available on Myrtle Beach City Council will be filled by Mary Jeffcoat. Jeffcoat, who served on city council in 1983 and 1987, received about 17 percent of the vote.
City spokesperson Mark Kruea says 15 of 15 precincts are reporting, plus absentees. No run-off election should be needed, adds Kruea. Preliminary voting results are as follows:
CHESTNUT – 1888 (21%)
RENDER – 1894 (21%)
JEFFOCAT – 1539 (17%)
VEREEN – 1314 (15%)
MCBRIDE – 743 (8%)
KRAJC – 639 (7%)
SARVER – 449 (5%)
PALMER – 365 (4%)
