WALLACE, SC (WBTW) – Marlboro County deputies say a Hamlet man broke into a home while the owner was out of town and stole televisions, tools and a vehicle from the house.
Sheriff Knight says Matthew Adam Scott, 30, of Hamlet, NC is charged with burglary and grand larceny.
The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Gurney Road in Wallace in reference to a Burglary. The victim was out of town and found he had TV’s, tools and a truck stolen. MCSO investigators responded, and from witnesses and evidence it was determined Scott was involved. Investigators recovered the truck in North Carolina and the tools were found in Wallace.
Scott has a lengthy prior record and was arrested Tuesday in Richmond County, NC. Scott is awaiting extradition back to South Carolina after he faces multiple felony charges for other crimes in North Carolina, including burglary. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, SLED, Scotland County Sheriff’s Office and the NC SBI all assisted in the Investigation and apprehension of Scott.
