FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW)- The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that killed two people riding on a moped Sunday morning.
The Highway Patrol says the driver of a Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling south on Oliver Road in Effingham around 5:45 Sunday morning when it hit a moped also traveling south.
Troopers say the moped had two people on it who died at the scene. Coroner Keith von Lutcken identifies the victims as 47-year-old Jerome Green and 32-year-old Tameika McLean both of Effingham.
The Highway Patrol identified the driver of the Chevrolet as Henry Mckenzie who is now charged with two counts of Felony DUI resulting in death and leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death.
Mckenzie is currently held at the Florence County Detention Center.
The incident is being investigated by the S.C. Highway Patrol and Florence County Coroner’s Office.
