MYRTLE BEACH (WBTW)- 40 firefighters from Myrtle Beach and Horry County are on the scene of a fire at Big D’s Bar-B-Que Barn in Myrtle Beach.
The fire shut down George Bishop Parkway, near Highway 17 and Highway 501.
According to Assistant Chief Justin Gibbins, the call came in just before 2:30 Wednesday morning, after a Horry County Police officer spotted the fire.
Gibbins says when crews arrived, the fire had already progressed through the attic space.
The fire then broke through the roof.
According to Gibbins, no one was in the building at the time of the fire.
John Russell Davis–who owns Big D’s Bar-B-Que Barn–says the fire will take a toll on his income.
“It’s sad,” he says. “Luckily, I’m blessed to have another restaurant in Conway, so I do have income coming in.”
“(But), this will be a loss.”
George Bishop Parkway reopened around 6:45 this morning.
