RUTHERFORD COUNTY, N.C. – Lake Lure Classical Academy has temporarily suspended all student clubs after several parents and teachers complained about a new LGBT club on campus.
LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.
The Lake Lure School Board voted 5 to 3 to suspend all student clubs after its meeting last Thursday because it said it wanted to come up with clearer policy on student activities.
The next school board meeting is scheduled for Dec. 10.
