GREENVILLE, N.C. — A man accused of cutting off a pit bull puppy’s ears and then taping the wounds with duct tape pleaded guilty to felony animal cruelty charges Thursday afternoon.
Aaron Hatcher, 25, was sentenced to 24 months of supervised probation, 100 community service hours and has to pay nearly $1,000 in fines and court costs. The Greenville Police Department say Hatcher is still in custody on unrelated charges.
The puppy was rescued by GPD in September 2014 after officers raided Hatcher’s home on drug warrants. Since being saved, the dog has been adopted and is living a pampered life with her new owners.
