FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – The Florence County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a robbery at a convenience store Saturday evening.
Deputies responded to a call of an armed robbery at a convenience store on Alligator Road and Savannah Grove Road in Florence County around 5:20 p.m. Saturday, according to Major Michael Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
Nunn told News 13 the suspect entered the store with a hammer and attempted to leave in a taxi with an undetermined amount of money. He says the owner of the convenience store followed the suspect from the store and was able to recover the money, but the suspect then fled on foot.
Deputies are searching for the suspect.The incident remains under investigation by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
