HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Drivers in the northbound lanes on Highway 17 Bypass can expect delays at the Homestown and Glenns Bay Road intersection as crews work to remove debris from the road Tuesday afternoon.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol traffic website, debris in the roadway and a traffic light defect at the Glenns Bay Road intersection in Myrtle Beach has traffic backed up in the northbound lanes around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday.

The traffic signal wire at the intersection of Glenns Bay is down and hanging in the roadway, mainly blocking 17 Bypass northbound lanes, according to Horry County Public Information Officer Lisa Bourcier. South Carolina Highway Patrol will be directing traffic, Bourcier adds.

SCDOT’s signal repair crews are repairing the light, but it may be several hours before they have them fully operational again, confirms Bourcier.
