MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Tuesday night, four soldiers arrived home in Myrtle Beach after months of deployment, and one soldier was able to surprise his family for Christmas.

Members of Operation Welcome Home of Myrtle Beach greeted the soldiers as they arrived.

For some soldiers their families were waiting outside when they landed at MYR.

But not all the soldiers had family waiting.

“The last deployment I had I pretty much missed every holiday,” said Specialist Timothy Mitchell.

Mitchell grew up in Myrtle Beach.

This is his third deployment and he told his family he wouldn’t be back until February.

Little do they know he’s making it home for Christmas

News 13: “Who do you expect to open the door?”

Mitchell: “My sister; she’s probably going to be shocked”

Mitchell says his sister lives live in the house he grew up in. Now it’s her home as well as Mitchell’s two nieces and his nephew; who he says he has not seen in seven months.

“It’s a blessing to be back home; it’s been awhile,” said Mitchell.

He says the last time he was home his nephew wasn’t walking yet, now he is up and moving around.

Mitchell says he misses a lot of time with his family because of his service, but he’ll at least get to celebrate Christmas with the people he loves.

Mitchell says he’s got a lot of family to see throughout the Grand Strand and a 3-year-old daughter down in Louisiana he’ll also visit.
