MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A suspicious package has been discovered at the Myrtle Beach International Airport Wednesday afternoon, according to airport officials.
Marketing Director Kirk Lovell with MYR says the package was discovered just after 1 p.m. near the U.S. Airways ticket counter within the airport. A small portion of that specific area of the airport is closed, but is in no way affecting flights in or out of MYR.
Lovell adds that airport officials are currently waiting on bomb squad specialists to arrive to investigate the package. In the mean time, the area where the package is located has been quarantined. No evacuations are being conducted as officials investigate the package at this time, Lovell confirms.
