Have You Heard, tonight (9/21) marks 45 years from the first “Monday Night Football” game.
The game was played in Cleveland and the Browns beat Joe Namath and the New York Jets, 31-21.
Actually, it was not the first NFL Monday night game in history. However, it was the first to be marketed as such.
Keith Jackson, Don Meredith and Howard Cosell called the game for ABC.

British rock band Dire Straits had three top-ten U.S. hits but only one number-one. That single, “Money for Nothing,” hit number-one 30 years ago today.

Atlanta Falcons linebacker Justin Durant, who played at Florence’s Wilson High School, was born that same day (9/21/1985).

Veteran NASCAR team owner Richard Childress turns 70 today.

Actor Bill Murray, who spends much of his time in Charleston, is 65 today.

The first black midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy enrolled 143 years ago today (9/21/1872).
John Henry Conyers was from South Carolina but didn’t graduate from Annapolis. He dropped out after repeated beatings and hazings.
The first African-American graduate from the USNA didn’t cross the stage for another 77 years.

Today is International Peace Day and World Alzheimer’s Day.
