HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Police are investigating pornographic images being sent between two cell phones of students at Carolina Forest High School.

According to an incident report from Horry County Police, officers responded to 700 Gardner Lacy Road on September 4 just before 11 a.m. Carolina Forest High School lists the address on the police report as its physical location on the Horry County Schools website.

The report documents that an assistant principal at the school received an email from a parent claiming their daughter was being taunted by three boys who claimed to have a picture of her at the gym with her legs open, “showing her private parts.”

The assistant principal reported to police that she began to speak with the students listed in the parent’s email. The picture the parent was concerned over was proven to not be their daughter, according to the police report. However, after requesting to see cell phone pictures, text messages and photo apps of students whose names were mentioned in the concerned parent’s email, the assistant principal did discover obscene photos on two students’ cell phones.

Police report that the two minors sent pornographic images of unknown females to each other. There were at least 35 images sent between the two, the report states.

Officers were called after school administrators discovered the obscene photos and were concerned the images could be classified as child pornography. Law enforcement seized both cell phones and discovered some of the photos were being stored in a password protected app that hides photos from anyone looking through the phone.

Parents of the two students were contacted and came to the school to speak with officers. Police note that the parents were advised of the situation and all parties were very cooperative. Parents were also advised that the criminal investigation division would be handling the case. No arrests have been made at this point.
